LogLogic and CynergisTek team up to deliver three times the reporting and alerting of other solutions
SAN JOSE, CA -- March 2, 2007 -- LogLogic™, the and CynergisTek, today announced the launch of a log management and intelligence service that will enable enterprises to reduce the cost and complexity of using log data to comply with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). With this new service offering, LogLogic and CynergisTek are delivering three times the reports and alerts of other solutions out-of-the-box, reducing the people and consulting resources to get and sustain compliance.
"Healthcare institutions are faced with complex and overlapping regulations that address multiple regulatory domains, from protecting patient health records to payment information -- and they are challenged to do so without adding any significant overhead to IT staff," said Andy Lark, CMO LogLogic. "Managed services implementations that include log intelligence provide a sustainable way for healthcare organizations to tackle compliance amidst these ever-changing mandates, without requiring expensive redundancies in compliance efforts. By turning to managed services implementations from CynergisTek that include log intelligence, they are now able address their customer's IT and business needs in a single solution."
Healthcare institutions can significantly reduce the cost of HIPAA compliance by automating reports, alerts, audit samples and IT processes. CynergisTek SentryTM is a remotely managed and administered log data review, alert and management service powered by LogLogic's industry-leading log management and intelligence platform (LMI) and based on LogLogic's HIPAA compliance suite that delivers more than 100 customizable reports and alerts that directly align with HIPAA. CynergisTek's SecureIT Program Advisor and SecureIT Technical Advisor training programs are also available.
"CynergisTek's solutions and services have been developed in response to requirements from our clients in the healthcare industry who are under increasing pressure to provide exceptionally high levels of service. IT and security get squeezed because it's overlooked as just 'infrastructure,' but it's obviously a mission-critical component," said Mac McMillan, CEO of CynergisTek. "Auditing and monitoring efforts are key, and having ready access to information security expertise when internal capabilities are inadequate is a common request. Our partnership with LogLogic allows us to answer those concerns fully and provide a solution that not only addresses security and compliance concerns but allows organizations to proactively monitor changes and events in their enterprises."
Corporate governance regulations continue to proliferate and healthcare organizations are increasingly turning to managed services to handle compliance mandates such as HIPAA, PCI and SOX, and requirements to automate critical IT controls such as COBIT and ITIL. In 2006, LogLogic and VeriSign announced their hugely popular managed services offering for enterprise and government organizations. Log data, generated by virtually every application and system, accounts for up to 30% of all enterprise data and provides an immutable record of user and systems activity that is critical to compliance, operations and risk mitigation.
Beginning this year whistleblowers for violators of the new HIPAA guidelines may be awarded 15% of any associated fines. Recent reports indicate a low level of HIPAA compliance among affected organizations. Fewer hospitals and healthcare facilities are fully complying with the law today than in 2005, according to a recent survey by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), a professional organization for health information executives. More than one-quarter of U.S. security executives whose organizations need to be HIPAA-compliant admit that they are not, according to "The Global State of Information Security 2006," a study released by CIO and PricewaterhouseCoopers. The AHIMA survey also found that 55 percent of respondents identified resources as their most significant barrier to full privacy compliance. CynergisTek's SentryTM solution incorporating the LogLogic™ platform meets this issue head- on in a unique and cost effective manner.
