LogLogic and Novell Partner to Meet Customer Governance and Compliance Needs

Companies to Jointly Market LogLogic's Log Management Product and Novell's Identity and Security Solutions

SAN JOSE, CA – November 13, 2007 – LogLogic®, the log management leader, today announced it is collaborating with Novell to jointly promote and sell bundled security solutions to customers. Novell's identity and security solutions combined with LogLogic's log management expertise, allow both companies to address customers' governance, risk management and compliance initiatives.

Customers have expressed a need to have both real time and long-term views into the events on their network. This partnership enables both companies to address those needs by leveraging the strengths of Novell and LogLogic, combining the highly scalable real time security and information event management (SIEM) capabilities of Novell Sentinel with the market leading Log Management and Intelligence (LMI) capabilities of LogLogic.

"The need to safeguard company data and comply with internal and external regulations is driving customer demand for integrated identity and security management solutions," said Dipto Chakravarty, vice president of engineering, identity and security management at Novell. "Novell is committed to enhancing our innovative solutions with complimentary and tested tools from expert partners. Our collaboration with LogLogic allows us to be responsive to customer needs."

In the combined solution, log data from LogLogic is forwarded to Novell Sentinel to provide real time analysis, event correlation and threat detection. Event data from Novell Identity Manager and Novell Access Manager can also be forwarded to LogLogic's product, providing long term data storage and user activity reports to optimize role and user provisioning.

Key benefits of the bundled solutions include:

  • Mitigating Risk — Novell Sentinel includes powerful correlation rules and dashboards that provide real-time detection of internal and external threats using log intelligence provided from LogLogic. It can then initiate automatic actions to remediate the problem, including revoking user access.
  • User Activity Assessment — LogLogic provides an assessment of user activity to assist Novell's identity and access management solutions in developing user access roles and user policies. Access is then based on a need-to-know basis, thus reducing the risk of information breaches.
  • Re-certification — Log data provided by LogLogic is used by Novell Identity Manager and Novell Access Manager to correlate actual user activity with defined roles and policies, proactively identifying breaches and eliminating inactive users.

"Enterprises are increasingly recognizing the value of log management and intelligence as a first priority of their overall risk mitigation, identity management and compliance strategies," said Dominique Levin, CEO of LogLogic. "Log management is easy to deploy enterprise wide and provides solid compensative controls. Novell's identity and security management solutions provide complementary controls for critical systems. Teaming with Novell enables both of our companies to deliver more value to our customers."
