LogLogic Launches Lasso Gateway Appliance to Provide Centralized Windows Event Log Collection For The Enterprise

Open Lasso SDK to further LogLogic's commitment to open standards and extend Lasso Gateway Appliance to collect non-Windows log sources

SAN JOSE, CA – July 21, 2008 – LogLogic®, the log management leader, today launched the LogLogic LG 400, a gateway collection appliance designed to leverage the capabilities of LogLogic's open source Project Lasso software. The LogLogic LG 400 provides for affordable, easy collection of Windows events, allowing users to monitor hundreds of remote Windows machines from a single location. LogLogic also announced plans to publish Open Lasso SDK, a cost-effective open and extensible log collection framework enabling customers to create and share additional log data collection modules, which can collect both Windows and non-Windows log data of any kind, for Project Lasso and the LogLogic LG 400.

With over 70 percent of customer devices in the Windows environment, LogLogic launched Project Lasso in April 2006 as the first comprehensive open source solution for Windows systems administrators to collect log data in a central location. For organizations with thousands of Windows systems, having a central log repository allows businesses to finally understand and make use of log data to meet security and compliance regulations. When combined, Project Lasso, with over 20,000 downloads to date, and the LogLogic LG 400 provide easy-to-use Windows logging solutions that reduce maintenance costs and the impact on storage and processing of monitored servers.

In addition to the LogLogic LG 400, the company will publish Open Lasso SDK later this quarter to provide an extensible log collection framework, freeing users to expand log collection to other applications without expensive and cumbersome professional services from a third-party vendor. Open Lasso SDK's do-it-yourself collection modules are particularly cost-effective for retailers using numerous custom applications, including point of sale (POS) applications, across multiple stores or branches.

"The LogLogic LG 400 and Open Lasso SDK continue to build upon LogLogic's commitment to open log management," said Bassam Khan, vice president of product management and product marketing at LogLogic. "We have developed Project Lasso, LogLogic LG 400, Open Lasso SDK, and the world's first open API for log management to empower our customers with highly customized environments to meet nuanced operational, security and compliance needs."

  • Centralized Windows Event log collection eliminates the need for countless Windows collection agents across various servers
