LogLogic Announces Industry's First Integrated Compliance Management, Security Event Management and Database Activity Monitoring Products

Through unique integration with open log management, customers achieve ROI in under six months and improve information protection, security and compliance

SAN JOSE, Calif. — February 17, 2009 — LogLogic®, the log management leader, today announced a new suite of intelligent log-powered applications providing the industry’s first integrated solution for compliance management, security event management (SEM) and database activity monitoring (DAM). Powered by the market’s leading open log management platform, LogLogic automates the most challenging security and compliance processes by efficiently re-using the log data that organizations of all sizes already collect and archive.

"Log management and SIEM are not one in the same but both are equally important to corporate regulatory compliance and strong security protection," said Jon Oltsik, Principal Analyst at the Enterprise Strategy Group. "With this announcement, LogLogic adds a strong SIEM platform to its leading log management offering. This makes LogLogic a great one-stop-shop whether organizations need log management, security management, compliance auditing, or all three."

The typical enterprise data center generates more than a terabyte of log data per day and is required by law to archive the information for seven years. Printed out, these logs would stretch to the moon and back more than 6000 times. LogLogic’s log-powered applications have access to 100 percent of the log data stored in the open log management platform and can cross-communicate to expose the most critical incidents threatening corporate information assets and to prevent suspicious activities pro-actively. With LogLogic’s new solution suite, customers can now, for the first time ever, combine the benefits of a central log platform with specialized algorithms, workflow and data visualization to solve specific security and compliance challenges.

"Built on the foundation of the LogLogic open log management platform, our new business applications unleash the power of logs while working together to deliver better compliance and information protection," said Dominique Levin, Executive Vice President of Marketing and Strategy, LogLogic. "Now customers can lower operating costs and expect a return on investment in under six months simply by getting more actionable intelligence from the log data they already collect."

LogLogic’s new offerings include:

LogLogic Compliance Manager. Makes regulatory compliance easier to achieve at a lower cost by fully automating compliance approval workflows and review tracking. Compliance Manager helps CIOs, CSOs and IT managers stay on track for meeting complex goals on time by translating compliance-speak into plain language, mapping compliance reports to specific regulatory control objectives, automating the business process associated with compliance review and by providing a dashboard overview with an at-a-glance score of an organization’s compliance posture. Compliance Manager capitalizes on log-based reports from the LogLogic open log management platform and also relies on the log management back-end for historical and forensics context.

LogLogic Security Event Manager, powered by Exaprotect. Performs complex event correlation, threat detection and security incident management workflow for cutting-edge security intelligence across a department or an entire enterprise. By analyzing thousands of events in real-time from security devices, operating systems, databases and applications, LogLogic Security Event Manager uncovers and prioritizes mission-critical security events. Security Event Manager leverages LogLogic’s open log management as its high-performance collection front-end and also re-uses its log data archival, reporting and search capabilities. Security Event Manager can also receive events from LogLogic Database Security Manager.

LogLogic Database Security Manager. Enables IT organizations to monitor privileged user activities and protect data stored within database systems. Database Security Manager provides granular policy-based detection, integrated prevention, and real-time virtual patch capabilities via its unique host-based sensor technology. With Database Security Manager, security analysts can independently monitor privileged users and enforce segregation of duties without impacting database performance. Database Security Manager benefits from LogLogic open log management for compliance reporting, archival and search. Database events can be sent to LogLogic Compliance Manager for regular review or to LogLogic Security Event Manager for further prioritization and escalation.
