LogLogic heralds breakthrough in log collection

Stand L76/G20 - InfoSec, London, UK, 27th April, 2010 — LogLogic®, the leader in security and log management, today unveiled LogLogic SEM v3.4. The solution features a new generation of log collector technology, unique to Loglogic that - for the first time - enables organisations to collect logs for both Security Event Management (SEM) and Log Management appliances in a single place.

By unifying the collection of Windows logs for SEM and Log Management appliances, LogLogic SEM v3.4 can vastly reduce the time and expense of having to manage and maintain multiple log collectors.

LogLogic SEM v3.4 is the perfect solution for large scale deployments, where deployments are rapidly moving to a centralised log and event repository. The ability within SEM v3.4 to take in security events from anywhere will deliver unparalleled levels of scale, clarity and efficiency.

The new single Log Collector also introduces smart routing, enabling the logs to be rapidly forwarded to the Log Management appliances, and the events to the SEM.

Having a single collection point simplifies installation and management - but still retains the high performance required by the SEM to provide correlation and real-time alerting of security issues. It also provides the Log Management with a full log record for later archival, search and reporting.

LogLogic SEM v3.4 also supports the ability to uniquely forward logs to a vast number of LMI appliances. This means:

  • High performance throughput
  • High availability and log security though advanced cache management
  • Advanced Syslog integration and customisation
  • Flexible log collection tools for Windows WMI, Syslog, SDEE, and flat files

“Most other log collection solutions on the market deploy multiple log collectors, often one for each source, and a further collector to connect the log management and storage system to the event management and alert system.” said Andy Morris, Product Marketing Director at LogLogic.

“This is complex, time consuming, expensive and - frankly - poor design. The new SEM Log Collector in LogLogic SEM v3.4 solves all of these problems and is included in the cost of the product at no additional charge.”

Morris continued: “The time of deploying collectors and agents for every task is coming to an end. I see a future where all logs make up a fabric that can be tapped into for whatever ends are needed.”
