The Position:
Loglogic Operations Engineering has an immediate need for an experienced test engineer to develop and deploy enhanced manufacturing and diagnostic test capabilities which ensure reliability and high field quality for our new and existing appliance platforms. As a key member of the Operations Engineering team, you will work closely with our internal partners, external OEM, and component suppliers. This is the ideal opportunity for an experienced server/storage test engineer who enjoys variety in their work, and the raw thrill of working in a fast paced, dynamic, rapidly growing start-up environment.
Responsibilities:
- Develop test software for the automated manufacture and test of an enterprise class server/storage appliance platform. Test software must load firmware, test component and configured system hardware, and install / test Loglogic application software. Software must provide comprehensive component and system level test coverage.
- Develop software to exercise and test component level hardware (motherboards, RAID storage, hard disks, CPUs, memory and NICs.)
- Collaborate with internal teams on development of software which performs system level testing, and the final installation and test of Loglogic application software.
- Develop software to provide fault detection to the individual component level.
- Collaborate with internal QA and software/hardware development teams to create a detailed test diagnostics strategy to facilitate root causing system problems/ bugs, and the qualification of new software/hardware. Develop associated diagnostic tools required to support the strategy.
- Work with internal QA and software/hardware development teams to minimize the time required to reproduce, root cause and fix identified problems. Submit bugs as necessary.
- Develop test-bed environment capable of reproducing identified problems, and validating that a deployed fix successful resolved the problem. Develop and execute the overall test design and test cases, analyze test results, and report on findings.
- Perform specific testing tasks including: creating, destroying, and modifying RAID devices; OS installation; fault injection and recovery actions.
Requirements:
- B.S. in Computer Science.
- 10+ years test development experience with enterprise class servers and/or storage systems.
- Experience installing and configuring Linux Operating systems.
- Experience using scripting languages (e.g. Perl, shell scripts.)
- Good knowledge of Linux OS administration and file systems, and networking protocols.
- Protocol level and system level test experience with RAID storage applications.
- Testing knowledge of RAID levels, SCSI, SAS, SATA storage devices as well as PCIX/PCIE HBAs as installed/used with Linux OS.
- Experience with hardware setup, rack mounting, cabling, and configuration; software BIOS level interaction; firmware upgrades; and boot settings.
- Good understanding of x86 architecture and PC system components.
- Experience with hardware qualification such as SAS/SATA and RAID controller is a plus.
Success Criteria:
- Possesses strong written/oral communication skills.
- Effectively works on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience in a rapidly growing start-up environment. Able and willing to 'roll-up-the-sleeves' and get things done without the assistance of a large supporting organization.
