Senior Hardware Engineer
This is the ideal opportunity for an experienced server/storage hardware engineer who enjoys variety in their work. The Senior Hardware Engineer will be a key member of our development engineering team, responsible for the entire hardware life cycle. We need an engineer with a broad skill set who enjoys a fast paced and dynamic environment.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
- Select storage server components including motherboards, disks, RAID elements, power supplies, and server chassis.
- Integrate hardware components, working closely with software development and manufacturing engineering to create the best log management products in the world.
- Drive continuous product improvements. Analyze failures to identify root cause and implement corrective actions. Also anticipate potential issues and take pro-active steps to prevent field failures.
Skills Required:
- 7+ years designing enterprise class servers and/or storage systems.
- Hands on experience developing/testing/supporting appliance based solutions. Familiarity with server motherboards, RAID controllers, hard disk drives, CPUs, and power supplies.
- Proven ability to contribute through the entire development lifecycle. Concept development, supplier and component selection, documentation, hardware and software integration, manufacturing test development, and supporting volume production plus external partners/customers.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills applied to peers, managers, outside partners.
- Experience in a rapidly growing start-up environment. Able and willing to 'roll-up-the-sleeves' and get things done without the assistance of a large supporting organization. Effectively works on multiple projects simultaneously.
- B.S. Electrical or Computer Engineering (MS preferred).
Additional Desired Skills:
- Experience in unix/linux environments, useful in scripting and problem analysis.
- Background in enterprise storage including RAID, NAS, and SAN.
- Building relationships with suppliers and contract manufacturers.
- Planning and execution of computer systems validation (DVT and HALT).
