Training Manager

The Position:
The Training Manager's role is to ensure our customers, employees and partners have the product knowledge they need to autonomously and effectively configure, utilize and customize the LogLogic Log Management and Intelligence solution. 75% of this position is focused on Courseware and Professional Services Content Development and 25% spent on delivery of content. The target audience for the content is system administrators, security professionals, professional services partners, and network administrators at Fortune 1000 organizations. The position requires a good business understanding of Fortune 1000 compliance, risk management and security requirements as well as technical knowledge of a wide range of technologies in networking, operating systems.
Reports to: Senior Director, Business Development
Location: This position will be based at the company's headquarters, located in San Jose.
Responsibilities:
- Understand internal and external customer training needs and develop course materials that meet those needs.
- Work with Engineering, Product marketing, Support, and technical publications to ensure accurate, consistent, and effective content.
- Develop content for a professional services program that enables partners to architect, consult, deploy, maintain and support LogLogic LMI Solutions.
- Collaborate with the development team to develop and update course content.
- Create standard product training courses (customer facing) and internal training documentation and materials.
- Develop and deliver Train-the-Trainers program for and to LogLogic and reseller partner Sales Engineering staff.
- Serve as a resource/mentor to instructors (LogLogic and reseller sales engineering staff), including delivery of Train-the-Trainer programs.
- Maintain product knowledge and update course content as new release of products become available.
- Deliver regular WebEx seminars and customer training classes at corporate and partner locations as needed.
- Maintain, grow, and deploy CBT-based instructor lab solutions providing a hands-on (remote) classroom environment.
- Develop and maintain information for the customer knowledge base.
- Create, maintain and manage a certification program for new technical trainers.
Requirements:
- Bachelor degree in engineering or computer science (or equivalent experience).
- 4-6 years of system administration and/or security-related experience, including 3+ years in training delivery and development.
- Strong technical knowledge of a wide range of computer and information systems, software applications, networking technologies, security and storage technologies.
- In depth knowledge of UNIX and Windows operating systems, security technology (firewall and VPN technology), applications (mail and proxy servers).
- Working knowledge of regulatory compliance policies and best practices such as HIPAA, Gramm Leach Bliley Act, Sarbanes Oxley, PCI, ISO 17799– security certification such as CISSP, CISM, or CISA (or other) a plus.
- Prior experience with log data, log management and intelligence preferred.
- Expertise in facilitation of learning in a classroom and/or eLearning environment.
- Applicable work experience in other technical fields, such as Customer Service or Engineering is a plus.
- Excel at establishing and maintaining positive customer relationships.
- Prior startup experience a must.
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated skill in utilizing Excel, Access, Word and PowerPoint.
- Demonstrated project management skills.
- Ability to travel up to 30%.
